Kelsang Yongdzin's treatment fund

I am Kelsang Yongdzin, and ordained Buddhist nun, and am seeking help to pay for a newly available medical treatment to address long standing debilitating illness and migraines from brain and body trauma caused by car accidents and horseback riding accidents.  I have been chronically ill for more than half my life (more than 30 years) with constant pain of various manifestations, debilitating fatigue, and persistent brain fog that makes mental functioning difficult.

I have tried many, many different treatments over the decades, with nothing really helpful.  My illness has been relentlessly progressive, and my ability to function in the world, including Dharma practice and activities, severely compromised.

Two friend with similar challenges sought help  from a Laser Light  therapy developed by Dr. Kahn.  The treatment uses laser light to penetrate through the tissues to the bone which activates healing at a cellular level, even with very chronic injuries.  I have been impressed by their reported imporvement and also by what I have observed.

Dr. Kahn is an MD in his late 80's who has devoted his life to developing this treatment.  Actual consultation with him is covered by OHIP (health care) but the treatments are not, and they are beyond my ability to pay.

I did go for a consultation and due to the extent of my injuries, the cost and extent of the treatment was even more than predicted.  Dr. Kahn believed he could help me.  It seemed important to at least try one treatment, and I did so.  I experienced improvement, that lasted several days, of increased mental clarity, reduction of pain and fatigue.  Ideally, I would receive 3 treatments a week, or hopefully 2, with reassessment every couple of weeks to adjust treatment as necessary.  The treatment is expected to go on for months.  My one treatment was $280.50.  I roughly estimated what it would likely cost to be $20,000 to $25,000.

The difference after the one treatment gives me hope for the first time that there can be actual improvement.  This would at least improve my quality of life helping me engage more fully in activities and especially in my Dharma practice.  I would hope to be of more use, and maybe even be able to teach again.

I know this is a lot to ask, and there is so much suffering in the world.  If you can help, that would be wonderful.  If you can keep me in your prayers, that also would be wonderful.

peace and love to you all,
Kelsang Yongdzin
