A little bit about Kelly....

Kelly Tally was hired by the City of Bellevue in June of 2014 as a Combination Building Inspector and quickly established himself as one of the top inspectors amongst a team of highly qualified peers. Kelly had years of experience as a Building Inspector and Building Plans Reviewer with Yakima County, the City of Auburn and Pierce County prior to his tenure with the City of Bellevue.

Kelly smoothly transitioned into the established team of inspectors and performed difficult and complex inspections with many of the City’s high-rise projects, hospital tenant improvements, multiple hotel projects and Eastlink Light Rail project. Balancing his inspections from simple homeowner-managed remodels to intricate commercial developments was seamless for Kelly. He managed to deliver excellent customer service to every level of customer with a calm and professional demeanor.

Kelly also became the ‘go-to’ guy within the team with his incredible recall of code-related issues. He mentored many of the newly hired building inspectors and even had the ability to mentor many of the ‘time-worn’ professional inspectors that the City of Bellevue takes pride in having on their payroll. His technical application of the Building Codes with all other City codes was impressive.

Kelly also was involved with many of the ancillary aspects of code development with active participation with the Western Washington Chapter of ICC and various committees within the Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO). Kelly will be greatly missed by his coworkers, the Development Services Department, the City of Bellevue and everyone that he met along the way on his journey to a safe and code-compliant world.
