Kelly Hunner Lavery RAN OVER byF150

TWO MONTHS AGO KELLY’s LIFE CHANGED FOREVER !!!!!!

From  S- ICU  to ICU to Medical Rehabilitation. Kelly has fought all odds to survive and continues to persevere towards her recovery. Unfortunately, pain is a major factor.  In medical rehab , she is relearning simple skills that you and I take for granted, I.e. sitting, walking and even the ability to use our arms. Because of the multitude of injuries and broken bones, it’s been a challenge physically and mentally.

RIGHT COLLAR BONE
After repositioning the fractured bone, into their normal alignment, the bone fragments are then held in place with special screws and a metal plate attached to the outer surface. Surgeons then constructed a frame using steel pins that were inserted into the bone and joined together by clamps and rods.

FRACTURED PELVIS, INCLUDING  THE SACRUM, COCCYX (tail bone) AND THE LEFT AND RIGHT COXAL (hip bones):
The orthopedic surgeon stabilized the fractures by using an external frame to temporarily hold the bones in proper alignment while other problems are treated. Surgeons construct these frames using steel pins that are inserted into the bone and joined together by clamps and rods.

KELLY BEGINS PHYSICAL THERAPY
Two months of laying in a hospital bed, Kelly sits in a chair for the first time. Physical Therapists, use a transfer board to slide her from her bed to the chair. (She has not stood or walked at this point)

EVERY DAY SHE TRIES HARDER THAN YESTERDAY AND MENTALLY PREPARES FOR TOMORROW ..... ❤️

ON FEBRUARY  26, 2018, KELLEY LAVERY was RUN OVER and DRAGGED 70 feet by a FORD F150 TRUCK, while walking across a parking lot after picking up a pizza dinner.
Her daughter, 11 year old, Abi, was in their van waiting for her mother’s return. When Abi was asked what happened, she replied, “I don’t know. There was a lot of screaming and then my mom never came back.”  There was a loud noise followed by people screaming “CALL 911. CALL 911!”
When the first responders arrived, Kelly was underneath the truck, unconscious and bleeding profusely. Immediately the paramedics called for Life Flight to take her to the trauma center. Because of her head and internal injuries she was sedated, intubated, and provided pints of blood and fluids. The doctors performed an emergency surgical procedure to remove her spleen to prevent her from bleeding to death.

Within a few days, Kelly had gone through 7 different surgeries. They initially left her stomach open, after her spleen removal, because they knew more surgeries were yet to come. She has staples from her belly button up and staples in her back to prevent the incisions from opening. An external metal bar has been screwed into both hip bones, extending across her stomach, to immobilize her hips while they heal. At this point, doctors performed scans/MRI’s to see all the damage that was incurred to her body.  As swelling went down, they discovered the following:

MAJOR CONCUSSION
STICHES OVER EYES
BROKEN BONE OVER LIP
BROKEN CHEEK BONE
BROKEN CLAVICLE
FOUR BROKEN RIBS ON RIGHT SIDE
THREE BROKEN RIBS ON LEFT SIDE
BROKEN PELVIC BONE
BROKEN HIP BONES (both)

*As days pass, Doctors are still finding broken bones.

Thankfully, it was determined Kelly does NOT have brain damage from the severe head trauma.

Kelly, mother to four girls, promised them a trip to Florida. She drove, three days, from her New Hampshire home to Melbourne Beach, Florida. Kelly was excited to be there, for her girls, but to also celebrate our mother's life. Our Mom passed away on December 22, 2017. We had planned a memorial for Mom; not easy getting the family together, in Florida where she lived, but it has been postponed while Kelly heals. Kelly was hit by the truck the day she arrived in Florida.

My name is, Colleen Naughton (Hunner)
On behalf of our family, we are asking you to please donate what you can to help pay for Kelly's medical bills; which are mounting. Kelly contributes half of her family’s annual income. It is not known when she will be able to return to work, as it is undetermined how long her recovery will take. Doctors have stated she will require substantial physical therapy due to her significant injuries.

Kelly lives in New Hampshire, but is in a Florida hospital without friends or family support. Her husband, Jim, was only able to travel to Florida to collect his girls and see his wife a short time before returning to New Hampshire to work. Kelly doesn’t have memory of Jim, her daughters, or other family members being by her side.

Although it is too early to consider moving Kelly home, to New Hampshire, the cost involved is also considerable. Non-Emergency Medical Transport is estimated to cost $7000.00 for ground transport and $10,000 - $20,000 for air.

Kelly is in a tremendous amount of PAIN, she is anxious and depressed about the unknown. She doesn’t have any memory of the accident. She awoke to a nightmare, with all of the injuries she sustained. She’s worried about the Tens of thousands of dollars she will have to pay towards Medical bills and catch up on every day expenses; house, car, her daughters needs and so on. Her knowing there’s a fundraiser on her behalf, will help her to relax so she can focus on her “LONG” recovery and get well enough to go home.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for any help you can provide to Kelly and her family!

Doctors said it’s a MIRACLE she’s still alive!
