Skateboarder Goes Through Windshield in Crash, Driver Leaves with Her Still in
Kelly is the strongest woman we know. God has put her to the test a few times and each time she comes out stronger than the last. She will fight through this and come back stronger again but some additional help through the financial burden would be greatly appreciated as she has months of recovery ahead of her and will be unable to work.
Kelly was skateboarding back to her work on Thursday December 27th to pick up her car when she was hit by a very drunk driver sending her through the windshield of his vehicle where he proceeded to continue driving for an additional 3 miles. Kelly, pleading with the driver to stop and call the police and experiencing excruciating pain she didn’t even realize, pulled out her phone to call the police for help. A biker witnessed the accident and reported it as well. Kelly was able to lead the police as best she could to her location after the driver finally stopped his car and walked away - he was later picked up by police and booked.
Kelly is in the ICU in Sacramento receiving exceptional care by the team here at Mercy San Juan Medical Center - Dignity Health. She has a long road of surgeries, recovery, and rehab ahead of her as both of her legs are severely damaged & broken, has a broken arm, and a neck fracture.
Through all of this, she’s still Kelly - sweet, feisty, and strong as heck. We are, as is she, so thankful that she is alive and on the road to recovery after this horrific accident.
