Kelley's Medical Fund

The purpose of this campaign is to raise money to help cover the costs of medical bills for Kelley Brown Dameron in light of her recent cancer diagnosis. On Monday, May 22, 2017, Kelley went into the hospital in Richmond area with severe abdominal pain, and by Friday, May 26, 2017 she was officially diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal cancer with metastases to her lungs and liver. 

She was discharged from hospital on Friday, the 26th and spent time at her son Tony's and then spent the past week at home recuperating from being in the hospital. She has been surrounded by family (including her mom) and local, close friends.  This coming week she will be seen at Massey Cancer Center (which is part of the MCV @ VCU) in Richmond. She and her family have a lot of information to take in and some huge decisions to make in the days ahead.

Kelley's mood is understandably serious, but she is still Kelley - ever determined and fun loving. She welcomes your prayers and appreciates all your support!

For now, the best thing any of us can do is remain upbeat, pray unceasingly, and offer practical support. One of the most needed, ongoing, practical supports is financial help to handle all the current and upcoming medical expenses. Even with insurance, the co-pays add up to outrageous amounts. Kelley and Cecil have always opened their hearts, their home, and their pocketbook to all who needed help. Now they are the ones who will need our help.

There will be multiple ways to participate going forward, but in the immediate time frame think simple - rather than sending flowers, please send the money for what the flowers would have cost instead.

As days roll forward and the situation evolves there may be other ways that your particular talents, skills, or resources may come in really handy. If you feel like you'd be willing and able to be of some kind of support beyond praying and paying, please send me an email and I'll get you linked up with whichever one of Kelley's kids or whomever else it is handling that particular aspect of things for which you're offering support.

At this time, please respect Kelley and her family's need for time and space to get their heads around this. Once she and/or her family have gone public and posted something on Facebook, only then would it be appropriate to make any posts on FB about the situation. In the meantime, if you'd like more info, feel free to email me and I'll do my best to keep us all updated without inundating Kelley or her family with multiple requests for info.

We each have our own love for Kelley, and she means so much to all of us. A truer friend could NEVER be found. It is my hope that with all of us friends collectively lifting her up in prayer in every way possible, and pitching in with monetary support, that we can make a tangible difference in her situation.
