Keith's Fight with Parkinson's

Donation protected
My son’s fight against Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease.

My son is an
ILLINOIS CONSERVATION POLICE OFFICER. Brave , strong and a strong will to defend the resources of Illinois.

CPO Keith Siedsma #389 was hired in January 2000 with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Il Conservation Police. His duty location is Kane County, for which he had has served the County of Kane for the past 18 years of his career before being sidelined by a progressive and painful disease that left him stranded.

Only a few years from retirement things didn’t seem so bad. There was promising talk of performing Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) that would greatly improve the Keith’s quality of life. Unfortunately, after a series of test unusual signs were developing with the progression of the disease. Leaving DBS not an option at this time.

Keith is married to his wife Cynthia (21 years) has two children Hannah (13) and Ethan (10). Mid-summer of 2017 Keith’s disease progressed faster and further than expected, leaving his wife Cynthia staying home and running out of sick days. Keith has developed cognitive difficulties and his ability to get around range from easy to impossible on many days. He can no longer drive, walk in the woods, or get around with much ease.

According to Keith and Cynthia, they were planning on a small bump, because they knew this was coming. That’s why the couple moved from their home in Elgin, to something a bit more accommodating for the family.

Keith has recently been diagnosed with uncommon movements complicating his Parkinson’s symptoms. Keith and Cynthia would greatly appreciate your support in any means possible. They are hoping for a service dog to help Keith and his mobility. Gene Therapy, which is very expensive and often not covered under insurance. The family has an excellent Medical Team at Rush. A lot of family and friends support. They thank you greatly for taking the time to read their story.

The Service Dog is the primary reason for the campaign, I'm trying to raise engough money to help offset the cost of the dog anfd it's specialized training. The kennel we have choosed also requires the group  or individual in need become an ambassador and start fundraising not just for the themselves but for the kennel to. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Michaeal J Fox Parkinsons Research, Service Dogs for those in need, and Keith's medical costs,

Thank you
