My brother in law, Keith, has been through quite a nightmare following a slip on some ice in early December. After several Dr. appointments, physical therapists and orthopedic misdiagnosis, an emergency room Dr. diagnosed a severe bone/muscle infection (streptococcus intermedius) via MRI and CT SCAN. He was rushed by ambulance to North Memorial Robbinsdale Hospital and has since endured 4 invasive surgeries. He has an antibiotic rod implanted in his femur bone and an antibiotic IV in his arm. He is unable to lift anything over 5 pounds.
Keith recently had the staples removed from his leg. As of February 14, he was unable to lift his leg on his own or put pressure on it. He was cleared by the surgeon to begin physical therapy 2x/week. Keith is making some progress with his physical therapy. He has been out of work for approximately 9 weeks and hasn't been given a return date. He will be evaluated by the surgeon again in 4 weeks, and will require one more surgery.
At this point they are unaware of the total amount they will be responsible for in hospital/medical expenses. Keith has been able to collect some short term disability that doesn't even touch their monthly expenses. He is out over $10,000.00 in lost wages.
His employer requires him to be at 100% prior to returning to work, therefore it will be necessary for him to stand on his own to begin working again.
If there is any way you are able to give to my sister and her family at this time, to lighten their burden ahead, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and I know they will be forever grateful for your gift no matter the size.
