Last night (March 12, 2018), our dad's house burned down. The fire seemingly started in the attic, where it burned unnoticed for a time. It was then that Keith stirred, awakened by the sound of the fire crackling (and by God, might we add - considering how deeply he sleeps). Thankfully, he was able to quickly dress and shove some important items into a bag before getting out of the house. By the time the fire department arrived, much of the roof was engulfed in flames. Keith watched helplessly...unsure how to comprehend what was happening. Thousands of gallons of water later and the flames subsided, leaving behind a mess of charred and saturated roof joists and wall studs. 
When we saw the pictures, we were overwhelmed - and were not sure how to respond. "I'm so sorry, dad!" didn't seem to cut it.
The feeling is really unexplainable - but once we were able to somewhat process the initial waves, we wanted to know how we could help.
Afterall, it would be an understatement to say that Keith has helped a lot of people. In fact, anyone who spends much time with him quickly sees two characteristics: 1. How hard he works & 2. How he loves to help others.
It's in moments like this when friends and family gather around and show their support...it's events like this that warrant the helping hand.
It isn't easy for Keith to ask others for help, so we wanted to put this page together to encourage friends and family to simply lend a helping hand.
HERE ARE THREE WAYS YOU CAN HELP:
1. ENCOURAGE - A simple text or message, letting Keith know that you care and are praying for him is a huge blessing right now!
2. LEND A HELPING HAND - If you live close by and would like to take a few minutes to lend a helping hand, I am sure it would be appreciated. Between starting to calve, running a business, and dealing with the next steps in this situation - there is lot on his plate.
3. LEND A HELPING HAND (GIVE $5) - Maybe you are unable to physically lend a helping hand, but still would love to help. Well, since a hand has five fingers...why don't we give a "financial" helping hand, so to speak (i.e. $5). If you would like to give more, that is fine too.
Because the house was currently in the process of being built, it was temporarily uninshured. Any financial help will go towards helping Keith demo/clean up the unusable portions of the house, salvage what can be saved and seal and clean the basement. It will also help him as he navigates the next few months, and prays about what his next step is.
We aren't trying to make this go viral...and the goal of this page isn't a monetary sum. The goal of this page is for Keith's friends and family (those whom he has helped time after time in the past) to gather around him and show their support in this time of need.
