Fund Keira's 2015 Track Travels

Donation protected

Keira McCarrell is a 15-year-old athlete living in Salem, OR.  Keira is the oldest of Kevin and Terri McCarrell's three daughters, all of whom share a deep love for track and field.  Each of the three girls excel in various track and field events and the family spends the majority of their time throughout the year travelling for either training or events.

The 2013-2014 season was successful for all three girls, but it was a breakout year in particular for Keira.  As a freshman at her high school, Keira placed 7th in Javelin at the OSAA 6A State Championship, and placed in the top three in long jump, javelin and 100m hurdles in the Central Valley Conference.  This was merely a warmup for the rest of the season, however, as Keira went on to compete on the USATF circuit and significantly push her personal records forward in all of her events.
The 2013-2014 season concluded with Keira being awarded the

Oregon USATF Female 'Multi-Event

.  Keira was recognized for winning both the State and Region 13 Championships in the Heptathlon 15-16 age group, and repeating as the Region 13 Javelin champion.  Keira's personal record of 4,327 points in heptathlon had her ranked in the top five in the nation. During her regional heptathlon, Keira also set a personal record in long jump, javelin, 200m, 800m, and shot put. Her 100m hurdles and high jump were the second best marks of her career.

The 2014-2015 season includes an invitation for Keira to compete with collegiate athletes as an exhibition athlete for an indoor multi-event at Boise State in January 2015 and an elite invitational heptathlon in California for a preseason high school meet.  Keira will also be competing in the New Balance Indoor Nationals for high school athletes in the pentathlon in New York City in March.  Keira will be favored to return to the OSAA 6A high school state championships in multiple events as a sophomore this year.   After that, the full circuit of USATF meets will commence for all three McCarrell girls. This will conclude in the Junior Olympic Nationals in Jacksonville, FL at the end of July 2015, at which each of the girls are preseason-ranked to finish in the top 10 in their events.

Your contribution to this campaign will enable Keira to continue her year round training and coaching, and to participate in elite track and field meets that require a significant amount of travel out of state.  By pushing herself to compete against the best of the best in competition, she will better prepare herself for her goal of qualifying for the World Junior championships as a heptathlete in the next 3 years.  Any support you may offer will go directly toward moving Keira closer and closer to this goal.
