Keiks Dream “Crumey’s Southern Kitchen”

“Do what you love, and never work a day in your life!”  I truly believe this and now that I’m older,  I fully understand the meaning.  My story is no different than most Americans right now:I lost my job when Covid caused the economy to shutdown, and after 20 years with the same company, there was no longer a place for me.  I had built my life around my career, because it was what I loved:  running a restaurant.  The pace of the industry, the business savvy learned, the guests and the staff made “work” fun.  Most of my biggest milestones happened around my career:  friends, marriage, success and loss. Then in March it was all over.  I hate the current circumstances that the country is in, but I am truly blessed to be able to spend this time reflecting on what my true purpose will be and should be.  I missed out on activism, being present in my community, and reaching more people with my story.  I now know that all life has purpose, and my time before Covid was spent empowering black men and women in my reality, something I didn’t understand until now.  I am a leader, and it’s inherent in me, thanks to my father, MSG Cromwell.  I see the vision so clear, and now is the time to refocus my purpose and I am asking ALL of you that know me and believe in me to donate to my fund and pass it on to support my vision.  Crumey’s will be a southern kitchen that specializes in rotisserie chicken, with southern sides, with a global perspective on how chicken should be done.  I will infuse flavor profiles from my time spent serving Latin cuisine, living in Germany (huhnchen) , and Cajun/Jerk as well.  It is a different spin on roasted chicken, a healthier favorite!  It will truly look and feel like a southern kitchen.  Now you ask, why fundraise?  I do not qualify for lending options from a bank right now, but my time is right now!  The funds will go to securing a lease for my location, equipment, inventory and marketing my brand. Our main focus will be to go, until we can get back to a safe place to serve indoors. Crumey’s will definitely be a much needed comfort during a struggling time! So whatever you can give to support this black Queen’s dream will be appreciated!  Thank you for your support, and my name is Lakeisha by the way, but you can call me Keiks!  God bless us all!
