Keeva's service dog

I was born with a condition called Anaphylaxis, which I describe as allergies on steroids. Instead of just feeling sick when I have an allergic reaction, my immune system freaks out and I go into Anaphylactic shock, which can only be stopped by a portable auto-injector called an EpiPen. Because of how much of a risk I take when I eat out, I have opted out of social events with friends and family due to the fear of having a reaction in an unfamiliar environment. This anxiety is common for people (especially teens) with Anaphylaxis. Allergen Detection Service Dogs are trained to detect a certain allergen in food and warn their owner of its presence before eating. They are also trained to emotionally support their owner when in places that trigger anxiety, such as new restaurants or big groups of people. With the service dog, I would be able to: visit new restaurants, travel on my own, socialize with groups of people, communicate with restaurant staff about my allergies, and so much more. My application for a service dog has already been accepted, and I just have to pay 10% of the total cost before they start the process of matching me with my future service dog. My goal is to pay the 10% by June of 2018, so I can spend my gap year training with the dog for the next 6-12 months and finish training by June of 2019, which is when I will be getting ready to go to college and possibly move out to live on my own.
