Keeping the Huwiler Family Home

Meet the Huwiler Family...Judith, Daniel, Daniel and Thomas. Four years ago the Huwiler family arrived in Lunenburg County , Nova Scotia from Switerland. They made the very difficult decision to leave Switerland after a family member was a victim of crime. They arrived with limited knowledge of our country, province, language etec.  They simply wanted a safe, healthy place to raise their family. They immediately registered their children in our small rural school and volunteered countless hours of their time  wanting to contribute to their new community in meaningful ways.  They asked for nothing except acceptance and friendship with deep appreciation and admiration.

They began the journey  of immigration applications with immigration lawyers. This system has failed for them. They lost thousands of dollars to lawyers with empty promises who were entrusted to help them. They have been notified they are being deported. Our local MLA office has exhausted themselves and are frustrated with the unresponsiveness from the Minister of Immigration.  They have been given only days to make the necessary arrangements.  They must leave everything behind and return to a country whereby they know no one. They must leave their HOME.

The Huwiler Family has contributed so much to our community during the short period of time they have been here!  Now they need our help.  The funds raised will assist them in securing  necessities for their family, caring for their children, covering living costs during transitions, further immigration applications etc etc.
