Keep Abdi Ali Home!

My name is Melissa Hair, Abdi Ali is my fiance. We've been engaged for 2 years, but we've been together for the past nine years. This kind and giving man who we call "Ace" has been in my children's life for much of their lives.
A month ago, Abdi was snatched by ICE in the courthouse while attending a hearing regarding an OUI charge which he was prepared to plead not guilty on. Since he was taken, my family and I have been in a state of despair. He was initially being held at Cumberland County Jail, but was quickly moved to a detention center (Strafford County Dept. of Corrections) in Dover, NH. Now I only get to see him 2 hours a week.
Since Abdi was taken we've been scrambling to find legal representation for him. A lawyer that we contacted in Boston has told us that Abdi qualifies for relief in the form of Cancellation of Removal for Permanent Residents (EOIR-42A) and possibly Asylum, Withholding of Removal, and Protection under the Convention Against Torture. This lawyer is asking for $10,000 to take his case. This lawyer is asking for $5,000 up front and then he'll allow us to start a payment plan to take care of the remaining $5,000. I'm hoping that he'll agree to a smaller up front payment so that we can start the legal process sooner.
Abdi has been living in the US since he was 7 - he's 28 now. Being deported to Somalia would be like being sent back to a totally unfamiliar country. A country that's currently in a drought and on the brink of famine . He does not need to be in Somalia. He needs to be here with his family.
Please help us keep Abdi home.
