Keep 30 Year Old Animal Sanctuary Open

Our Animal Sanctuary is in Crisis. Founded 30 years ago by Carole Webb, FARS is home to almost 400 sheep and many other animals including pigs, goats and chickens. To Carole, All Lives Are Precious. For the first time in years our finances are in a dire situation, and without your help we risk closure. What can you do for the animals?
NB: Benjamin is one of our volunteers, who is handling the money from the fundraiser for us. He is not receiving any of the funds himself!
Last year we were forced to use our winter hay supply during the summer months. The weather meant that there was no suitable grass for the animals. This was a huge cost - one large round bale costs £45, and the animals go through 15 a week. So that’s around £700 a week for several months. This is in addition to the other feed mixes that make up the bulk of their diet - around £400 a week - as well as straw bales - £150 a week - and of course rent, bills and all the other costs of running a large sanctuary. We calculate that we will need to raise around £10,000 urgently to stay afloat. We will be so grateful for any small amount that you can spare towards this.
The sanctuary’s journey started in 1988 when founder Carole Webb, a former veterinary nurse, rescued one lamb who was not expected to survive. She named him Larry, and took him home to hand rear. He was her first success, but certainly not the last. As the years went by she rescued more and more animals, and in 1999 relocated to the current site in Warwickshire. Now 75 years old, Carole is still totally committed to the animals. She has given up bricks and mortar to live in a mobile home on site, where she can fully dedicate herself to their care.
We don’t cut corners here at FARS – the animals deserve to have everything they need for a healthy and happy life, and unfortunately that costs a huge amount. Your money does not go to unnecessary administration or executive costs - we are volunteer run, and all the money goes directly to covering the animals’ needs. This place means the world to all of us here, both human and animal alike.
