Tuna was just diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. He is a 1 year old Siberian cat who loves to go for mountain adventures, canoe rides and to play with his feline friends. We have learned that this disease is manageable but not curable. He will need to take three types of medication twice a day for the rest of his life, quarterly visits to the vets office, follow ups with the feline cardiologist at the specialty clinic, emergency vet visits and eventually the costs associated with euthanizing him in the end. We have been told that the average life expectancy for this condition is 2-3 years but could live longer than that depending on how he responds to his medicine. The cardiologist has told us that if properly medicated Tuna can still enjoy exploring and playing with his friends and lead a mostly normal and happy life.
Unfortunately after doing the math on how much we have spent diagnosing him and the future expected upkeep costs the amount was quite alarming. The goal amount is based on a life expectancy of 3 years but if he lives longer, that number will go up drastically. Without help we would struggle to afford the treatment which Tuna needs. The though of losing him has been extremely awful to digest as just this past September we had to say goodbye to his twin sister Luna to a different incurable genetic disease at only six months of age. Trying to diagnose Luna was very difficult and very expensive and unfortunately we are still facing debts from trying to treat her. Unfortunately she passed much sooner than we hoped. We have the chance now to actually help Tuna live longer so we are trying everything to keep him going.
We want nothing more than to be able to provide Tuna with the long happy life that he deserves. Tuna brings happiness to thousands of people around the world as well as us and we would not be doing this if we did not truly need help.
