<div>Dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights since 2013, the STHRC aims to end migrant suffering. With the passing of beloved director Eduardo O. Canales, <strong>funding has fallen short, and doors may close, leaving no one to help save lives and provide answers to families regarding the whereabouts of their loved ones.</strong>

<div>The STHRC is busy working on applications to private foundations and state grants, but is in need of financial assistance to help continue lifesaving measures to prevent migrant deaths through water station placements and to keep the phone lines open to take missing persons reports for migrants who often go missing when attempting to cross the US/Mexico border in order to facilitate search and recovery efforts.

<div>The STHRC has many community initiatives including assisting families in locating missing loved ones, establishing a forensic infrastructure for identifying migrants, advocating for humane immigration policies, and raising awareness about migrant deaths and border militarization. <strong>The STHRC’s efforts have expanded beyond Texas to New Mexico, Arizona, and California, including setting up over 160 water stations, providing a call center for recovery assistance with up to 250 calls per month, and collaborating with Texas State University's Forensic Anthropology Department to facilitate the identification and repatriation of unidentified human remains.</strong>

<div>Dedicado a promover y proteger los derechos humanos desde 2013, el STHRC tiene como objetivo poner fin al sufrimiento de los migrantes. Con el fallecimiento de nuestro querido director Eduardo O. Canales, los fondos han disminuido considerablemente, y tememos meido de tener que cerrar nuestras puertas, dejando a muchas personas sin apoyo para salvar vidas o brindar respuestas a las familias sobre el paradero de sus seres queridos.

<div>Mientras trabajamos en solicitudes para fundaciones privadas y subvenciones estatales, necesitamos apoyo financiero para poder seguir ofreciendo medidas que salvan vidas, como la colocación de estaciones de agua, y mantener abiertas nuestras líneas telefónicas para recibir reportes de personas migrantes desaparecidas al intentar cruzar la frontera entre México y Estados Unidos, con el fin de facilitar los esfuerzos de búsqueda y recuperación.

<div>El STHRC tiene muchas iniciativas comunitarias, incluyendo la asistencia a familias para localizar a sus seres queridos desaparecidos, el establecimiento de una infraestructura forense para identificar a personas migrantes, la promoción de políticas migratorias humanas y la concientización sobre las muertes de migrantes y la militarización de la frontera.
