This is my horse, my best friend, my soul mate, Smokey Lonesome. This picture is the day we won the coveted Trail Class in the Estes Park Gymkhana. I took us three years but we did it! It was the happiest day of my life!
Now, after being diagnosed with Atypical Parkinsonism I need to raise $1000 to secure his spot at a boarding facility or let him go to friends to be re-homed in Granby...I'm not ready to let him go!
Working with him helps me with my physical issues. and I have an exceptional trainer who does hippotherapy and other activities which help with my disability.
The money will go to pay up front for his hay through the winter. I will be able to pay his board once the hay is paid foras he will earn his keep partially by being a program horse and will also be sponsored by another person.
It isn't easy for me to ask for help, but I just can't imagine my life without this boy so soon!
I have mounting medical bills since my diagnosis . I know I won't always be able to continue to do the things I do with him but don't want to cut our time short while I still can.
I have some wonderful friends who have agreed to take Smokey when the time comes and I am so very grateful. I just don't want to do it before both he and I are ready. I want to spend the winter building our bond and giving him a job that makes him feel valued.
My birthday is in a month and I would be so grateful if you could find in in your Heart to donate a few dollars to my "Keep Smokey Home" fund in honor of the most beautiful relationship ever.
