It remains a cherished space for LGBTQIA+ Latinas, gay and straight patrons, and immigrants from Latin America and the Caribbean. Beyond its rich Latin American connections, the bar also welcomes a diverse mix of patrons, embodying the vibrant diversity of Los Angeles.

<div>Recently, we received heartbreaking news from our landlord. The Silver Platter is facing eviction due to property development plans for new apartments. This unforeseen situation has left us in a precarious position, and we urgently need your help to relocate and continue our mission of serving the community that has supported us for so many years.

<div>The Silver Platter is more than just a business; it's a lifeline for many, especially immigrants and the LGBTQIA+ community, offering a rare sense of acceptance and understanding in a city that can often feel overwhelming. Its significance is even captured in the 2012 documentary "Wildness," showcasing its unique role in queer expression and activism.

<div>Despite its deep cultural value, the Silver Platter is now fighting for its survival. The building, once identified as a historic resource, is slated for demolition. Unfortunately, a 2021 report denied the building's historical significance, allowing redevelopment to move forward. The business is currently going through eviction proceedings, and we hope to secure an agreement to remain at least until the end of the year while we search for a new location.
