Help Keep Seyna in School

Donation protected
Hey, my name is Seyna Clark, some of you may know me as  Nabou.

I have received a statement from the bursar's office asking me to pay off my summer balance by August 31 otherwise they’ll purge me from my classes. There’s no way that my family will be able to pay the 5,600 within the next few days. I’ve talked to several people in the financial aid office and bursar and they are not giving me any leeway. I’ve asked for a payment plan and/or an extension on the harsh deadline giving my circumstances but the university doesn’t care. I’ve applied for several loans and I’ve been denied. My mother has a terminal illness, blind, and has no credit and my father is dead. Because my mom is sick my father handled all of the finances and she never had to build her own credit until recently. That has put us in a tough spot. Taking a semester off is not an option for me. I need to continue my education at the university without any interruptions. Please help me put together a emergency fund. I am begging for a donation to keep me in school

Here is a synopsis of the hardship I’ve experienced the past few months.

When I was 9 years old my mom was diagnosed with a chronic illness called Cicatricial Pemphigoid- Pemphigoid is an autoimmune disease. This means that your immune system mistakenly begins to attack your healthy tissues. In the case of pemphigoid, your immune system creates antibodies to attack the tissue just below your outer layer of skin. This causes the layers of skin to separate and results in painful blistering. My mom was in and out of the hospital for 8 years. Eventually the illness took over her body and caused her to go blind. All through middle school I took care of my brother and sister for my mom. There were times that she couldn’t even walk, talk or eat.

My mom being sick put us in financial distress. My dad had to pay all of my mom’s hospital bills, which put us in extreme debt and eventually led us to become poor. All through my mom’s sickness my father would do all that he could to make sure we were on our feet, had a roof over our heads and had food on the table. I know with all of that my dad had to carry a lot of weight on his shoulders. Keeping up with bills, taking care of three minors, and tending to my mom put a lot of stress on my father.

With all of that my dad had his own health problems that none of us knew about. He kept all of his health issues a secret. In his mind, he thought it was best to not worry us about his illnesses. My father had Chronic Heart Failure, Diabetes, and Hyper-Tension.

On November 22 my father passed away and my whole world that was being held up by two toothpicks came crashing down. After my father passed I went into a extreme depression and I battle with constant anxiety.  When my daddy died we lost our home and whatever money we had left. We have been homeless ever since. My mom is trying but she’s blind and too sick to work. We have been bouncing around from motel to motel and from “family friend” to the next. My mom doesn’t have any family in the United States.

That same year I got into two terrible car accidents. The first one left me in shambles. I dislocated my hip, broke my Zygote bone, ripped my tongue and eyelid, had surgery in my left knee, and stitches in the next. The second car accident left me with anxiety. Voices in my head that would never let me relax. Voices in my head that constantly reminded me that I was gonna die or my mom was going to die because it seemed as though we can leave this earth at any minute. I became suicidal and more and more depressed until I hit rock bottom because I just knew that my life was over. I was showing symptoms of bipolar disorder. I missed so many classes from not being able to physically leave my room without breaking down. I sought help and was prescribed medication and recommended a shrink. Although I ended the school year rough I still had faith in myself and decided to try summer school.

On July 15 my cousin that my father raised passed away and I felt the same cycle return, I fell back into the hole and my grades dropped again.

Although, I battle with my mental health I don’t want that to stop me. I want to finish school and go on to become a filmmaker.
