Sebastian is a very happy and talented baseball player, always dreaming of being a great and big baseball player, but at the young age of 10 something wasn’t going right with him.

Sebastian was losing motor functions, after visiting several specialists and medical studies we received the devastating news that is the worst nightmare of any parent. We were informed that our Sebastian has a rare genetic disorder called X-linked Adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD). This disease mainly affects the nervous system, the brain, the adrenal glands and the spinal cord, which interrupts their normal activity, it’s a genetic neurodegenerative disease.

On the recommendation of his Neuropediatrician we traveled to the United States of America (USA) from Dominican Republic the’re 3 cases diagnosed and all had traveled to other developed countries do know this type of disease (my country they don’t know how to treat it) so our son could have a chance at life.

Unfortunately this disease was progressing so fast and he couldn’t receive a transplant.

Sebastian is receiving medical treatment in the United States of America (USA) thanks to an emergency visa we obtained. He is happy (he is now pain-free) his doctors have been the best doctors in the world, he is going a special school for his physical condition and best of all with the best quality of life he can have.

We ask you from our hearts for your help to continue seeing Sebastian's smile printed on his beautiful face. We need to pay bills, maintenance, medicines, doctors' fees, etc., for Sebastian continues be the happy child who is with his parents and his little sister who adores him.

Sebastián es un niño muy feliz y talentoso en Baseball, soñando siempre ser un gran jugador de este deporte pero a la corta edad de 10 años algo no andaba bien con el.

Sebastián estaba perdiendo funciones motoras, luego de visitar numerosos especialistas y estudios médicos recibimos la devastadora noticia que es la pesadilla de cualquier padre. Nos informaron que nuestro Sebastián tiene un desorden genetico raro llamado Adrenoleucodistrofia ligado al cromosoma X (X-ALD). Esta enfermedad afecta principalmente al sistema nervioso, al cerebro, las glándulas suprarrenales y la médula espinal lo cual interrumpe su actividad normal ya que es una enfermedad neurodegenerativa genética.

Por recomendación de su Neuropediatra viajamos a Estados Unidos de America (USA) ya que en República Dominicana han diagnosticado 3 casos y todos habían viajado a otros países desarrollados que si conocen este tipo de enfermedad (ya que en mi país no conocen cómo tratarla) y así nuestro hijo pueda tener una oportunidad de vida.

Lamentablemente esta enfermedad estaba progresando rápido y no podía recibir un transplante.

Sebastián está recibiendo tratamiento médico en Estados Unidos de America (USA) gracias a una visa que obtuvimos de emergencia. El está feliz (ya está sin dolor) sus médicos han sido los mejores médicos del mundo, está asistiendo a la escuela especial para su estado físico y lo mejor de todo con la mejor calidad de vida que pueda tener.

Le pedimos con el corazón en las manos de su ayuda para seguir viendo la sonrisa de Sebastián impresa en su hermosa cara, necesitamos pagar recibos, manutención, medicamentos, pago de doctores, etc., para que Sebastián siga siendo el niño feliz que es junto a sus padres y su pequeña hermana que lo adora.
