Sandy's Visa Fund

Those of you who know Sandy recognize how hardworking she is and how much integrity she has. For the last year, she has been employed as an assistant golf professional in Austin, Texas. At her place of work, she has made many strong relationships with the members and her co-workers. Most would agree with me when I say she is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet. Since her move to the US from Monterrey, Sandy has worked hard to achieve a degree in Business Administration from St. Edwards University and to further her golf career. Unfortunately, in the past couple of weeks, her career has been on hold. Many of you know her current situation but, for those of you who don’t:

Recently, the company she was working for was bought out. About that same time, Sandy’s education visa expired and she began applying for her work visa. The process of working with the current management and incoming management on the paperwork was difficult but, Sandy was guaranteed a position by new management once her visa application was accepted. With this assurance, Sandy submitted her visa application, along with the application fees and lawyer fees paid for from her own pocket (roughly $5,000). Shortly after this, the new owners changed their position and informed Sandy they would no longer be part of the visa process despite their previous assurances. Sandy was forced to start the entire process over again with a new employer, and all the fees she had paid were non-refundable.

The First Tee is a nonprofit organization that has offered Sandy a position once her visa paperwork has been approved, but Sandy must once again cover all the fees herself. I believe Sandy deserves a future here in the United States to further her business and golf career, and I am starting this fund to help raise money to offset the costs of her visa application.
