<div>For nearly five decades, our community has counted on Safe Shelter. Today, Safe Shelter is counting on our community.
</div>

<div>For 48 years, we have answered the calls of people escaping domestic violence. Today, for the first time in our history, we are facing the very real possibility that Safe Shelter may have to close its doors.
</div>

</div>
<div>Every survivor who turns to us is experiencing one of the most dangerous moments of their life. Every case has the potential to end in loss of life.
</div>

</div>
<div>We have served double the number of clients this year as compared to 2025. The need has never been greater.
</div>

</div>
<div>Our community now faces a choice. Do we want a domestic violence shelter in St. Vrain Valley?
</div>

<div>If the answer is yes, now is the time to act.
</div>

<div>Safe Shelter has experienced significant losses in government funding while operating costs have continued to rise. These changes came with little warning, making it extremely difficult to replace lost revenue while demand for our services continued to grow.
</div>

</div>
<div>Like many families, we tightened our budget. We froze salaries. We froze hiring. We delayed growth. We used our financial reserves to keep our doors open.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Why?
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Because we were not willing to draw a line in the sand when it came to the people we serve.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every person who comes through our doors could be facing a life-threatening situation. We are not going to screen degrees of “crisis” to determine whether someone deserves safety. We just provide it to everyone who is in danger.
</div>

<div>Cutting any more than we already had would have meant turning victims away.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We refused to make that choice. Today, that choice belongs to all of us.
</div>

</div>
<div>If Safe Shelter closes, our community loses far more than a home. We lose emergency shelter, outreach services, experienced advocates, crisis intervention, legal and housing advocacy, support groups, and nearly five decades of trusted partnerships serving survivors throughout the St. Vrain Valley.

<div>One former client described Safe Shelter this way:

<div>"Safe Shelter of St. Vrain truly saved my life. I would always tell them, 'You guys and this place truly saved me.' They would respond with, 'You saved yourself—we just gave you a safe place to do so.'"

<div>That is who we are.

<div>We don't take credit for a survivor's strength. We simply make sure there is a safe place where that strength has a chance to emerge and grow.
