Hello, family, friends, and supporters! I’m Rhonda Young, the proud owner of The STL Balloon Lady in St. Louis, MO. I create elegant balloon decor for all occasions, from private parties to corporate events.

My journey began over 20 years ago when I saw how balloons could transform events and bring joy. I taught myself the craft through articles, videos, and guidance from my mentor, Miss Sue. My late Uncle Raymond also helped by teaching me how to build sturdy frames for my designs.

The name "The STL Balloon Lady" was actually given to me by my customers! Every time I showed up with balloons, they’d excitedly shout, "The Balloon Lady is here!"—so I decided to make it official, adding "STL" to give it a local flair. I even built my own website, www.TheSTLBalloonLady.com, and I’m proud to say I’ve got a 4.9 Google rating to match all those smiles!

In 2014, I left my day job to follow my passion full-time by opening my own shop. It was scary, but a heartfelt talk with my employer, who encouraged me to pursue my dream, gave me the push I needed. He too had left his job to open his business.

Last year I celebrated 20 years in the balloon industry and 10 years in my shop. While I mostly run the business solo, my family helps with larger events. I hope to officially bring them on board and grow my team to improve operations and profitability.

Like many small businesses, I face financial challenges, especially during the slow winter months. My passion for what I do has kept me going through tough times. Since Party City’s recent announcement of closure, I’ve noticed a rise in requests for balloon services, likely from their former customers. While it’s unfortunate to see them close, I’m thankful for the new opportunities it presents for my company and I'm excited about building new relationships!
