Keep Rebecca Moving

Donation protected
Meet my friend, Rebecca, mother of 9 and foster mom to more than 50. She’s the real deal and she and her family are in real need.

Over the last two decades, Rebecca has been a foster mom to more than 50 children. They have ranged from infants to teenagers who needed assistance for years, months, weeks, or just a weekend. Whatever the need, she has never given a second thought to opening her home.

Even with the constant change of faces, 6 of which were adopted into the family, Rebecca pours herself into her children, homeschooling all but the 4 oldest and supporting them in every interest they’ve pursued.

And because she’s acutely aware of the ways she’s been blessed, she has volunteered a large portion of her time over the last 10 years to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, helping an average of 30 people/families a year with all manner of needs: securing cash for rent, utilities and food, employment counseling, babysitting, clothing drives and more.

Essentially, Rebecca never says no when there is a need.

Ever.

In January of this year, Rebecca lost her husband, Dave, to cancer. He was the sole source of income for the family and since his death, the financial needs of the family have become significant.  Enter this Gofundme drive. The family needs a new van. The one they are using now is held together, literally, by blue duct tape. It has over 200K miles on it and eats oil. She needs a vehicle that can safely accommodate the 7 kids she still has at home. The money collected will go to Rebecca to buy a new(er) van.

Rebecca will never ask for help. She’s convinced that if there is someone out there in greater need, then they get the help, even if it means she goes without. The fact that she has ok’d this Gofundme is no small miracle and speaks to the significance of the need. Her friends and I believe it’s time that she was on the receiving end of everyone else's generosity. Any amount is a gift. Please consider being part of the blessing. You'll never meet a more humble or grateful recipient.
