Keep Mom Safe & Housed: Emergency Care Fund

Hi, my name is Donovan L. Phillips from West Point, GA, and I’m reaching out with a heavy but hopeful heart. My mom, LaMerles, has always been my rock. As a single mother, she spent her life caring for others, my brother, and me; now dementia, congestive heart failure, fibromyalgia, and severe anxiety have left her needing round‑the‑clock support. As her full‑time caregiver, I’ve done everything in my power to keep her safe at home, but the costs have overwhelmed us.

Why We Urgently Need Help

No safety net – Mom doesn’t qualify for Medicaid, and Medicare covers only a fraction of her care.

Mounting bills – We are months behind on our mortgage, utilities, car payments, and medical bills keep arriving.

Next step: assisted living – Her doctors agree she now needs a memory‑care facility where she can receive 24/7 professional help (and dignity!), but the admission deposit and monthly fees are far beyond our reach.

How Your Gift Will Be Used

Expense Amount

Past‑due mortgage, home repairs (including subfloor and joists replacement), & utilities (keep our home until transition) $8,000
Memory‑care facility move‑in fee & first month $5,000
Outstanding medical and pharmacy bills $4,000
Car loan & insurance arrears (prevents repossession so I can keep working) $3,000
Total Goal $20,000

Every dollar will go directly toward these essentials, and I will post receipts and updates so you can see exactly how your generosity is making a difference.

A Personal Note

The constant caregiving and financial pressure have taken a real toll on my own mental health—I live with C‑PTSD, bipolar disorder, and anxiety—and more than once I’ve felt completely defeated. Your support isn’t just financial; it’s a lifeline that lets me keep fighting for my mom’s dignity and my own stability.

Donovan L. Phillips
