Keep Lailah in School!
Donation protected
Hello, I am raising money for my niece, Lailah to be able to keep attending her brilliant school for neurodiverse/disabled youth. Lailah suffers from panic disorder, depression, OCD/anxiety, and dysgraphia (all documented). She is in her senior year of high school and public school could not meet her educational needs whatsoever. The pandemic began during her 10th grade year, which exacerbated her anxiety significantly; once classes returned in person, she was unable to leave the house and attend school due to overwhelming anxiety and panic attacks. She is on the waitlist for an educational advocate for a non-public placement, but ended up staying at home last year waiting. She is now 19 and although we are still hoping the advocacy gives her the placement she deserves, we are trying to find funding on our own to send Lailah to this wonderful school in the meantime. We were able to pay for her to begin the school year and thus far, she is thriving. The turnaround from just one month in a supportive, understanding, educational environment has been amazing to watch. Lailah does not feel as depressed, or even as anxious, and is elated to be learning again--she lights up when talking about her new school! We are looking for any and all funding options to keep Lailah in school, but cannot afford the cost on our own: $5,000 per month. Educational loans are not an option for high school. Lailah wants to finish school with the support she needs so she could then have the skills to go to college and be a special education teacher or social worker herself. If you are able to give, anything is much appreciated.
