Keep Kelly Fighting

Donation protected
So it has been a rather pressing couple of months as Kelly learned her chemo treatments were no longer working in July and her cancer was returning. The cancer battle is one we, unfortunately, know all too well over the past 5 years, but this time is a bit more real as there isn't a clear plan and path of treatment to get her into remission for the third time.

As we were exploring options, Kelly was accepted into a clinical trial on September 2nd. While there was a ton of unknown on a treatment that had only been tried on 30 people to date, there was at least some hope that we had a plan of action to continue the fight.

That optimism came to a crashing halt 2 days later as Kelly suffered what so far is being diagnosed as a cardiac event on the evening of September 4th. Long story short she essentially had a heart attack with the answers as to why still being a mystery almost a month later. We still don't know if there was damage to her heart because the shock from the cardiac event damaged her liver and kidneys and her body is not yet able to process the dye they use to check the heart.

After 21 days in the hospital, she was released on Friday but is still required to receive outpatient dialysis treatments 3 days a week for the next 4-6 weeks in hopes that her kidney function will return to normal and from there we can try to figure out what is wrong with her heart. That still doesn't take into account what is next for her cancer treatment with the multiple myeloma becoming more and more aggressive with each time it returns.

At this point I know this reads pretty much like a nightmare, but we weren't done yet as we learned the house we have been renting and paying for on-time since Kelly was originally diagnosed with cancer in 2017 was in foreclosure and will be up for auction on October 5th.

We are currently hoping an insanely kind member of the BCJ community will be able to step up and help us out, but the process with the owner has been slow and time is running out. One way or another we are going to have to brace for the worst and be prepared to uproot everything in less than two weeks or be able to do everything possible to take care of the family that is attempting to throw us a lifeline in an impossibly difficult situation.

We have been asked to start this process multiple times over the past three weeks, but we truly wanted to exhaust every option before turning for help. We just don't know how we can do the right thing as things stand without reaching out for help. If you can, it would be beyond appreciated and if not, maybe you can share and connect with someone else that can.

We thank all of you for your continued thoughts and prayers in this difficult time. We'll find a way through this as we always do, and it will once again be in large part to the incredible support you guys have provided throughout this process.

Love,

Chad, Kelly and Kelcie xoxo
