Keep Henry Alive

Attention all animal lovers, especially those who have fur babies of your own, please take a moment to read this!! My dear friend Chelsea has had an extremely rough week dealing with the anxiety of not knowing if her pup will see another day. Her baby boy, Henry, was rushed to the vet after 3 days of not eating and constant vomiting. He has spent the last 4 days at the doctors on fluids and antiobiotics/pain meds while undergoing multiple tests and scans to figure out what is going on. Typical liver enzyme levels for a dog should be around 200, but Henry's came back at 5,281!!! His liver is failing and functioning very poorly. His chances of surviving are 50/50 at this point and current equipment is unable to diagnose the core of the problem. Henry was referred to an emergency hospital where the doctor has a strong suspicion it’s a condition called portosystemic shunt, which he would be born with... basically it’s a valve in or around his liver that potentially never closed as a baby, and it’s now attacking his liver, which would kill him. Option B is that he ingested something severely toxic, which has infected and inflamed his liver to a deteriorating point. Small improvements have been made since day 1, but he is still suffering super high liver enzyme levels and is unable to come home. Without having certainty on his condition, Chelsea is left with few options--constant medical treament and/or surgery. The vet projects her bill to be between 3-5k after all is said and done. Some might call her crazy, but others will understand that there is NOTHING we wouldn't do to protect our animals and keep them alive. I would do ANYTHING for my pets and anyone who begs to differ,  I would challenge to stare in the eyes of a helpless animal who is begging for their life and needs their help.
