We need help. There’s been something pretty big going on behind the scenes that hasn’t been shared with anyone. We’re at risk of losing Grey Muzzle Manor. My safe place, my haven. The safe place and haven for so many other people and animals. Unfortunately, not selfishness and pigheadedness is present in someone regarding “the place that love built.”
Ironically enough, the complaints have nothing to do with traffic, noise, no animals getting out, etc. It’s my “unsightly sheds” that are the main issue. Even though I️’m following the ordinances regarding my structures. I️ am very mindful, paranoid, etc when it comes to not upsetting the apple cart.
The codes officer that came was amazing and truly impressed of what we do. She stated when she arrived that per the complaint, “this wasn’t what I️ was expecting.” She also recognizes the positive media attention and traffic Grey Muzzle Manor has brought to the township. She is going to try her hardest but there’s a good chance I will have to sit in front of the board and plead my case. Unfortunately, I️ am not in the position to move.
Let me be transparent (even more than usual). I️ have no money. Grey Muzzle Manor has been able to grow because of student loans and your contributions. I️ personally have close to nothing and am often juggling bills around in deciding what gets paid. I’m not asking anyone to feel bad, just want to paint the whole picture. I️ am very lucky and I’m pretty consistent with expressing the gratitude I️ have for everything.
That being said, the only solution right now (and codes agrees) is putting up a privacy fence along the longest part of the property line. I️ can’t afford to move, or I️ would. Otherwise, we’re pretty confident the issues will continue. He will be stubborn and insistent I’m doing something wrong and will continue calling. If anyone knows me, you know that I️ am even more stubborn and I️ will not be beaten. This has made me feel uncomfortable and exposed in my own home. This can’t happen. Grey Muzzle Manor is supposed to be a safe place for all of us.
I️’m looking for a company, donor, something that will make it possible for me to put the fence up. And maybe a miracle. Grey Muzzle Manor is a tax exempt non profit organization.
I️ work tirelessly for Grey Muzzle Manor. So it can be what I️ want it to be. Please don’t let that be taken from me. From us.
** I️ don’t want any negative comments because most of my neighbors are so awesome and we try to all help each other. I also request no one take it upon themselves to contact local media. The township and I plan to work together to hopefully come up with some type of solution but it could go either way.**
PLEASE READ - Just want to clarify a few things and I will add this to the original post as well. The sheds are in pretty good shape. Many of you have seen them and would agree. The shed in particular he does not like is the one that I do work in which is actually probably 2 acres from his actual house. My property is an "L" shape and there is no obvious property line. The fence is something I'd like because I was already paranoid about people accidentally touching his grass, animals getting out (which RARELY HAPPENS). It would provide an obvious barrier and safety net between the properties AND the privacy that I feel has been stolen by him constantly looking over here. When he FINALLY had the gumption to tell me it was him who called a month ago and WHY (he stated his one pin was knocked over three times and when I asked him why he didn't come to me, he stated he "did not want to cause problems between neighbors" I almost IMMEDIATELY put up t-posts and line to make the property line clear. But this did not appease him because two weeks ago he called the township AGAIN asking "what is going to be done about these sheds?"
