Hi, my name is Gerald and I am a 24-year-old college student working 2 part-time jobs to try and make ends meet. I live in public housing and now I'm fighting to not be put out in the streets. My brother was put in charge of the household with rent arrears that he had to pay off, and he has refused to do anything about it, showing no remorse about us being homeless on the streets. He only wants to avoid the responsibility and push his problems on someone else. My mom raised me here; it's where I made all my memories with her, and cancer took her away from me. I don't want to lose the place and lose the memory of my mom because she holds a special place in my heart. I need help because the rent arrears are too high for me to pay off on my own and I am unable to apply for rental assistance as most of them are requiring my brother, who is Head of Household, to do it, but he has abandoned us. I'm unable to call or text him, and he doesn't care about his mom, me, and this house. I will use the money to fully pay off the rent arrears so that the apartment can be put in my name. I would not be able to do that because it is in his name and the landlord won't let me become Head of Household until the rent arrears are fully paid off Please help ; a total of $65,000 is needed but anything is greatly appreciated, and I thank you for hearing me out and reading my story.
