Keep Destiny at Dayton Christian

My Name is Destiny Rome and I will  be Sophomore this fall at Dayton Christian School (DC) with God's blessings and your support. During my attendance at DC I have thrived in academic achievement, spiritual growth, academically, and serving my community. I have learned the importance of giving back to my fellow students,  my church family, and bettering my neighborhood.

Throughout the year, I shovel and take care of the gardening my for neighbors that are elderly or unable to attend to their yards due to work demands. God has placed within me a strong desire for soul winning since I was 7 years of age and this desire has increased.  I have been blessed to add mentoring, tutoring, and teaching Bible study at my church.

At DC was the afforded the opportunity to take part in two missions trips.  The first was to Chicago following the May 2016 shootings and the second was to Tennessee with with Resounding Joy (an honors class, where we spread the gospel through song).

At DC, I have also had the honor of representing my school in soccer and basketball. I have served as an  aid for the high school office,  seeking to lend a hand to my teachers, fellow students, and their parents.

I am most thankful for the ability to continuously achieve high honors, maintain membership in the Junior/ National Honor Society.

In 2014, my mother and I were  victims of domestic violence and my entire life changed significantly. Through divorce and hardship, my mom has tried hard to keep me at Dayton Christian School, with no assistance. She even managed to help me raise the money to go on missions trips,  participate in extra curricular activities, provide assistance with my academics, all while tending to her own healthcare needs following the assault. Making things even more difficult, on May 9, 2016, my mom and I were rear-ended by a semi-truck which set us further back.  This has resulted in over a year worth of rehabilitation and a lot of bills, including foreclosure notices. My mom is still in rehab, has to retrain, and take some refresher courses this fall to begin working in her field again, while keeping picking up the pieces.

In order, for me to return to the school of my dreams, my mom has to pay off last year's balance of 11,831 before school begins on August  16, 2017. Our faith is strong but time is drawing near and we need your support, prayers, and monetary donations.
