Keep Dangar Island Bowlo Rocking!

Dangar Island Bowling Club is a unique volunteer managed Club on a water access only island in the Lower Hawkesbury River. The Club is a hub for local bowlers and the green is busy nearly every weekend. Through its 63 year history, there have been periods where the club has struggled to survive, but recent years have seen more stability with a new chef managing the kitchen, a program of regular high quality music and cultural events in the calendar and, of course, a huge amount of support from the community.

However, this financial stability doesn't cover significant improvements to the
Club's infrastructure and so we are reaching out to our friends to help us make
some critical upgrades. This campaign is to help us with two major improvements.

Concerts and community events such as Open Mic and Dangardigras have been a major part of the Club's activities for many years now and the visitors these events attract literally keeps the club viable. In the past we have relied on donations of music equipment and long term loans from Island residents, but much of this gear is now either broken or in a state of chronic disrepair. So, firstly, we need a completely new PA system to keep presenting the quality of events that we have become used to enjoying.

The second upgrade that we're asking for help with is Air Conditioning for the kitchen. Since taking over the kitchen, Sharon Watson has transformed what's on offer for our customers. She is an island resident who offered to take over on a temporary basis when our previous chef left. Two and half years later, she's going strong, creating fantastic meals, often using produce grown on the Island.
During the hotter months of the year, the kitchen becomes unbearably hot and the lack of proper ventilation is a real problem for Sharon and her helpers.
We have received a quote from our friendly local AC engineer and with your help we can keep the kitchen cool through the hottest times.

Together the upgrades will cost around $7000.00  so we're hoping to raise that amount, so we can keep the good times rolling way into the future!
