Pasadena Dance Theatre and the COVID-19 Crisis

Tax deductible
Dear PDT Community,

As a non–profit arts organization, we always operate on a tight budget, even in the best of times. In the current worldwide crisis, brought about by the COVID–19 pandemic, we will need your help to be able to continue through this difficult period.

Dance is an art form that  requires group interaction, both during studio classes and in performance. It demands space, teachers, choreographers, accompanists, dancers and audiences. Having to shut our doors, even temporarily, is particularly challenging for us. Although we are currently unable to produce our spring season of performances, conduct classes in our conservatory or provide rental space to other performing artists due to the COVID-19 "Stay at Home" directives and our desire to protect all of the members of our community, we still must cover our ongoing costs. These include our monthly rent, utilities, insurance and more.

To meet the needs of our students during this challenging time, several of our faculty have generously volunteered to teach online classes to our professional division students and to adult students so that our dancers may continue to grow and develop their skills .***

Our goal is to emerge on the other side of this crisis and take up our classes and performances as the same organization you know and care about today. That’s why we are asking for your help in meeting our overhead expenses during this closure and reduction of programming.  We understand if you are unable to contribute to our GoFundMe campaign at this time due to personal hardship brought on by the crisis, but please know that any and every donation will make an impact. If you have ever seen our performances, you know that PDT offers an exciting and vibrant cultural experience to our community; one that we cannot afford to lose.

Thank you for your support during this challenging time.

"Theaters are just buildings. But when they go dark, the people who brought them to life, the artists and crews who created the magical worlds that allowed us to escape the harsh realities or banalities, and allowed us to suspend our disbelief, go dark with them. The thing that we can hold onto is the fact that once the dark hours are over, we, the artists, will be called on to do what we do: Make magic, create worlds, and to bring the light and with it the dawn."
