Keep Breathing John

Donation protected
John Turrisi is a 55-year-old man from Crest Hill IL.  He was diagnosed in January 2018 with stage 4 COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) with a prognosis of about 1 year to live.  He is currently fighting for his life and pursuing the possibility of a double lung transplant.  The process just to be considered for a transplant has been incredibly taxing.  Here’s just a few things that John and Crystal have had to deal with:

In general, you must be physiologically 60 years of age or less for bilateral lung transplantation and 65 years of age or less for single lung transplantation. This means that your physical condition must at least meet the typical condition of someone 60 years old or younger, or someone 65 years old or younger. Your chronological age is not a factor.
The insurance coordinator reviews the patient's available insurance to ensure that the patient will not experience financial hardship related to the transplant or postoperative and discharge care and coordinates insurance coverage with outside case managers.
You must have no other life-threatening systemic disease
You must have demonstrated absolute compliance with medications and medical recommendations, and have good rehabilitation potential
You must demonstrate emotional stability and must have a realistic understanding of the implications of organ transplantation
You must have a supportive social support system
It usually takes at least three to six months to fully recover from transplant surgery. For the first six weeks after surgery, avoid pushing, pulling or lifting anything heavy
According to Milliman, an actuarial company, a double lung transplant on average cost over a million dollars, $1,190,700 to be exact
John's life drastically changed in January 2018, when he was hospitalized with pneumonia, returned home oxygen dependent and no longer able to have a normal life.  Since his diagnosis he has been unable to work, care for his home and family.  John is currently on about a dozen medications and is undergoing testing for double lung transplant evaluation.   This is about a 3-month process and taking its toll spiritually, physically and financially.  John has been hospitalized 4 times since his diagnosis in January, each time his body weakens.

John and I have been together for 12 years and have 5 adult children and 9 adorable grand kids. We have been members of our church for 8 years.  Family and friends, as well as our church have provided as much assistance as humanly possible.  We are forever in their debt for all the have given.  And now God has laid it on our hearts to reach out and ask others for help.  John is a very proud individual, and struggles asking for help, but this illness has reached a point where help is incredibly needed.

As you can see above the cost for this is exorbitant, and all donations would be greatly appreciated, and if you’re unable donate, we completely understand, but we would ask for your prayers for John and his family.  We BELIEVE in the power of prayer.
