Keep Bear Safe

Help a brave child rebuild after escaping abuse.

At just 17 years old, Bear is having to take the courageous steps of standing up against a loved one and realizing that he deserves to be safe. He is taking on responsibilities no teenager should have to, showing strength and maturity well beyond his years.

Recently, my partner’s son, Bear, made the difficult decision to run away from an abusive situation. There is now an open CPS case, and he has filed for a restraining order to protect himself. At Bear’s request, his father has also filed for emergency custody to give him a safe, loving, and stable home.

Bear has already begun attending his new school, determined to move forward and rebuild his life, even as he starts over with nothing. Unfortunately, starting over has come with enormous emotional and financial challenges. When Bear left, he couldn’t take anything with him — not even his clothes, school supplies, or his beloved guitar, which has always been his way to cope and express himself through music.

We are raising funds to help with:

* Attorney fees for both the custody and protection cases

* Clothing and school supplies so Bear can continue at his new school with dignity and confidence

* Replacing his guitar – his outlet and emotional anchor

* Therapy costs until the courts can require his mother to release his health insurance information

Funds will go toward supporting Bear **physically, emotionally, and mentally** through this transition — helping replace most of his belongings and ensuring he has healthy outlets for coping and healing.

Every dollar goes directly toward keeping Bear safe, rebuilding his sense of security, and giving him a chance to heal and thrive in a new, peaceful environment.
