<div>The Mission Imagine living in a remote village where access to the internet is unreliable or non-existent, yet you need to build a water pump, treat a local disease, or improve your crop yield. For over two decades, the CD3WD Project has been the bridge across that digital divide.

<div>We are a non-profit initiative dedicated to providing free, offline-accessible technical information to the developing world. Our library contains thousands of documents on agriculture, health, engineering, construction, and appropriate technology—practical knowledge that saves lives and builds communities.

<div>Our History &amp; Legacy The project was founded in 2003 by Alex Weir, a visionary software developer who believed that knowledge should be free and accessible to everyone, regardless of their location or economic status. Alex tirelessly curated a massive library of "how-to" technical documents, distributing them originally on CDs (hence "CD3WD"—CDs for 3rd World Development) and later DVDs to aid workers, NGOs, and remote communities.

<div>Sadly, Alex passed away in 2014, and for a time, the project went offline. However, the need for this information never disappeared.
</div>

<div>The Reboot: CD3WD 3.0 In late 2021, friends and former colleagues of Alex, led by Oliver Walker, came together to resurrect the project. We have successfully recovered approximately 250GB of Alex’s original data and documents and launched a new hub at <a href="https://www.cd3wdproject.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">www.cd3wdproject.org.</a>
