Keep Abortion Safe and Legal In Bristol

My name is Dr. Wesley F. Adams, Jr. I am an Obstetrician-Gynecologist who has been in practice in Bristol, TN, for over 40 years. I offer a wide range of gynecological services, including cervical cancer screenings, menstrual disorders, hormone replacement therapy, contraception, and abortions.

 

With the recently leaked draft opinion of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito to overturn Roe v. Wade, the fate of the few offices that offer abortion services rests in the hands of state representatives. If and when Roe v. Wade is overturned, Tennessee has plans that all abortions will be banned in the state, with the only exception being to prevent death or grave bodily harm to a pregnant woman. There are no exceptions for incest or rape. However, the State of Virginia has laws permitting physicians to perform abortions with few restrictions. Abortions in Virginia should remain legal until at least January of 2024.

 

My staff and I empathize with the women who would be affected by these anti-abortion laws. We will do everything within our power to help keep abortion accessible to the women in our area. As of now, we have secured a location in Bristol, Virginia, where we will offer abortion services legally. We will need all the support we can receive to make this happen. Funds raised will be used to purchase medical equipment, obtain an ultrasound machine, and acquire other items necessary to open a new office in Bristol, Virginia.
