<div>I’m humbled to be here asking for help. A year after undergoing lung surgery, I truly believed the hardest part was behind me—but this year proved to be just as challenging.

</div>

<div>In May, I became unexpectedly ill with intercostal neuralgia, a nerve condition caused by last year’s lung surgery. The pain has been debilitating and has kept me from working since June 2024. I’ve been surviving on short-term disability, stretching every dollar and doing everything I can to stay afloat.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Between the staggered FMLA from last year and this year’s new period, I unfortunately ran out of protected time—and on October 27, 2025, I was terminated from my job.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>That same week, I was able to finally obtain a nerve blocking injection that has been life changing!

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>My family stepped in to help cover November’s rent, but our apartment complex informed us they will not accept partial payments for December 2025. As a result, eviction is now pending.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I have been applying to multiple positions and interviewing regularly. I’m also waiting for my unemployment benefits to be approved. Our food stamp case is finally under review. My daughters just started working as well—they will be able to help with groceries and utilities in December, but rent is more than we can manage right now.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I’ve even looked into extended-stay hotels for myself, my kids, and our cats as a last-resort plan. But our hope is to avoid eviction altogether—something that would follow us for years and make housing far more difficult to secure.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>If we can get through December, January gives us enough time to catch up and stabilize as my health continues to improve and job opportunities open up.

</div>
