Local 506 Needs Your Help

For those of you who don't know, Local 506 is an indie music club in Chapel Hill, NC. It has been around since the 90's - when Chapel Hill was considered one of the best cities in the world for indie music. 506 has seen so many bands and artists stop through on their way "up" toward superstardom, or even sometimes on their way down. From 2014 to now, the club has gone through a handful of ownership changes, due to a myriad of reasons, but no one ever left 506 because they didn't love it with all their heart.

That brings 506 to its current state. The club recently changed hands again (while retaining one of the previous owners, me) last year. The new owners came in with the energy the club has always needed from its owners. Everything was looking good for 2020 - with amazing bookings and a plan to fix some of the things of that desperately needed attention. Now, all this progress has been stopped in its tracks. 

So, during this state of emergency, we have decided to set up this GoFundMe for Local 506 and our staff until we can all get back to work. Our owners and staff work hard and late hours to offer our community an amazing place to experience live music, and we hate to have to make this decision to shut down.

On the bright side, we honestly have some of the best staff, neighbors and landlords in Chapel Hill. No one is going to come knocking for rent or shut our power off during this time, but it will need to be made up down the road. This disruption to the music industry as a whole will be devastating, but more so for the small venues and clubs who operate on the smallest of margins -all to bring you live music from artists that they believe in! 

So, anything you can donate helps us ensure that the club doesn't fall behind on rent, bills, payrolls while we're closed, or so that our employees can get some help should they need the assistance. We deeply care about and love the people responsible for creating such an incredibly special and exciting experience at Local 506. All funds will be routed through 506's bank account before finding their way to our bill and tax collectors, employees, and fans who's tickets must be refunded. 

Your donation will redeemable at 506 in the form of a Gift Card that you can use on the bar or 506 merchandise. Due to how ticket sales work through our online vendor, donations will not be redeemable for show tickets, just to be clear. We don't want something for nothing, but we need to keep bringing in cash while we're closed to cover things.
