Keeler's Study Abroad in Costa Rica

Donation protected

Hello,
My name is Keeler Nichols, I am a 10th-grade student at
St. Andrews School in Delaware. I have always been interested in helping others around the world. As a young child, I would always go find the child in the playground who was alone and play with them. I was always the first to offer assistance or help someone when they needed it. My parents always wanted me to have the best opportunities in the world no matter how much of a sacrifice it was. I was offered many resources which allowed me to grow into a curious young individual. Going to a small independent school in the Lehigh Valley opened up my horizons, which included boarding school. My parents supported me through the application process, even though they were divorced they worked together to help me achieve my goals such as: studying for the SSAT, writing applications, and filling out financial aid forms. My Mom drove me to all of my interviews and my father drove to to the SSAT tutor every week. Due to this guidance from my family and my mentors in my life, I was granted the opportunity to go to St. Andrews and experience one of the best educations in the country. When I went to St. Andrews, I started in the mentoring program. This program was an outreach program to the local public schools. I was able to work with a young girl, Destiny, who was one of the smartest, kindest, and strongest eleven-year-old girls I've ever met. She was from a family of ten, with severe economic challenges. I was able to become her mentor and friend and guide her through struggles. It was an extraordinarily rewarding experience. This experience not only inspired me, it has motivated me to do more. I want to be able to support more people outside of the Delaware community. My energy and enthusiasm for communities of need along with your support will be the catalyst for me to contribute to the international community. I will be your champion for your global concern and initiative to support communities in need. Giving to this Costa Rican community and being a representative for all my supporters is my goal.
