Keegan's Service Dog

Donation protected

Hi, many of you might not know, but my son Keegan was diagnosed with severe (level 3) autism last year. He is non-verbal. He has been in speech, OT, PT, PLAY autism therapy, and feeding therapy since he was 18 months old. Keegan also has a congenital heart defect that he was born with. While working with his therapists it was suggested that we try to get him a service dog. A service dog would help our family tremendously. Keegan sees no danger. He does not understand that jumping off of a table could hurt him, or that leaving out of the house is dangerous.
He doesn’t understand that running or taking off in the middle of a parking lot could cause him to get hurt. We have many things in place in our house to prevent anything from happening to him, but at this point the only thing that works is him being watched 100% of the time. The dog can be tethered to him, so that he cannot run into traffic. The dog will also alert if Keegan wanders away. The dog is also trained to track Keegan if for some reason he did get out of the house. The service dog would also help to curb the self harming behavior that Keegan has during a meltdown. The dog would calm him, and sit on his lap until he calmed completely, so that he would not hurt himself. Lastly, this dog would give me piece of mind that my son is safe if I have to walk into another room. Currently, Keegan cannot even be left by himself if I have to go to the bathroom because he has no sense of danger. Any donation is appreciated. Please help us reach our goal and get our baby a service dog that will help him learn and thrive for the next 15 years.
