In starting this Go Fund Me, we realized that we are exposing quite a bit of our story and struggle. However, through this struggle we have grown and learned so much about each other and hope our story can help others. Our strength lies in our love for one another, our family and our friends.
We were married in 2009 and are still happily married and best friends. We always looked forward to starting a family, as we have so much love we want to share with a little person. Nothing happened for 5 years, so in 2014 I (April) began to ask my doctor to test me for PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) as I display all of the symptoms. I wondered if this could be causing our infertility issues. The doctor told me I was “Mocking a serious health condition, and I just needed to lose weight. Once I did that, I would get pregnant with no problems." So I lost weight, gained weight and lost weight again but I did not get pregnant.
In 2017 Mickey and I found an amazing team of fertility specialists. These doctors seem like they truly have my best interest at heart… Oh, and by the way they diagnosed me with a rare and complicated form of PCOS. The form of the disease that I have makes getting pregnant an even bigger challenge.
For the past year, Mickey and I have been trying various fertility treatments. We have endured months and months of hormone therapy, pills and injections (self-given - NOT fun!), and every invasive doctor appointment imaginable. The result has been a physical and mental rollercoaster. Frustrated and disappointed after 4 failed attempts we have lost hope that this route will work for us.
It is clear that the only possibility of us getting pregnant is through IVF (Invitro Fertilization). As you may know, this can be very expensive, and our insurance (while great!) does not cover anything fertility related.
The cost of the treatment for us out-of-pocket is $20,000. This is a ton of money for us and so we are reaching out to our family, friends and anyone who may understand the struggles of this journey for help.
For anyone who knows us, we NEVER ask for money, or anything more of those we love, beyond friendship and company. But we want a child so bad we felt compelled to reach out to a broader community. If you can help in any way, we would be so grateful!
We feel so hopeful and have a team of medical professionals who are really in our corner, rooting us on, and doing everything, they can to treat my PCOS, and help us start a family. We are so excited by what this may bring.
We hope to begin our treatment soon after the holidays. Your support would be a true blessing, and we will always be eternally grateful.
We will not give up until there is a new little Keegan to welcome into this world.
