KEATS Bar and Restaurant is located in the heart of Manhattan and has been open for nearly 40 years.
I have owned and operated KEATS for the past 20 years, many of those years with my father, George Nicholas.
KEATS was started in 1981 by George Nicholas, Brian Slowey and Eddie Keating, hence the name "KEATS".
These men were able to create a "Cheers" style atmosphere where thousands of people have been able to unwind, eat, drink, and find comfort from the daily grind most of face on a daily basis.
We have staff members at KEATS that are more like family members than employees. Chef Jose has been serving some of the finest meals the city has to offer for over 30 years. Our Karaoke Host/Manager/Doorman Shawn Dowl has been making people laugh, smile and sing for over 15 years. He has greeted over half a million patrons in his tenure at KEATS. Eddie McGhie has been pouring (and drinking) Jameson shots and pulling ice cold Guinness pints for thousands upon thousands of regulars, tourists, and United Nations employees for over 6 years.
We also have a kitchen/waitstaff that has been committed to KEATS patrons for decades.
As I stated before, KEATS is more like an extended family than a small business!
Due to the current circumstances and the mandated shutdown of all bars and restaurants in NYC indefinitely, we are in a dire situation.
My goal is to be able to keep our entire extended family (employees) intact so they can all provide for their families by supporting them through these extremely difficult times.
100% of the proceeds will go to our employees that live paycheck to paycheck
Even writing this is hard for me to do, but 100% necessary as we are legally mandated to close our business.
We really appreciate any support and look forward to opening our doors again as soon as possible!
