Thank you for reading my campaign. My name is Sarah and I created this campaign for my brother in law, Eugene.  Eugene has type 1 diabetes and has had it all his life. He just turned 41 on September 9th.  He's a hard working father, husband, brother, son.  Eugene and his wife Tammy have 3 sons. Jesse, Brandon and Ashton.

Eugene only has 16% kidney function right now. His pancreas isn't working because he's diabetic. He has to get blood drawn every other week to keep on top of his kidney and pancreas levels which cost $120 every time. His last blood draw was when his doctor suggested he start dialysis. Starting October 9, 2017 they will have to travel an hour and half to do dialysis training for 2 weeks in Medford, Oregon which costs $75 to fill up their vehicle everytime. Then he will be doing dialysis at home in which he will need to get a dialysis machine for home which cost $7,500. They will  be having to then make trips to Portland, Oregon (which is 6 hours away) to start getting prepped for getting a kidney and pancreas transplant. This will definitely be expensive traveling back and forth on top of regular monthly bills and having to miss work. They will also be having to stay in hotel for 3-4 months after the transplants which cost $100 a night because they have to be close to the hospital which is about $12,000 all together. The medical bills are piling up and they are falling behind and with the transplant's they will be having even more medical bills. While he does have insurance it only covers a small portion and the rest has to be paid out of their pocket. Their sons are both working, one is an adult and one is a minor. They are both helping with monthly bills and groceries and gas money. The funds will help alleviate stress so he can get the proper care he needs. He's a fighter with a loving heart that would give the shirt off his back to anyone, but would NEVER ask for help from another. But Eugene and his family really need help at this time.

The National Kidney Foundation estimates that a pancreas transplant will cost $125,800, including the cost of the evaluation, procedures to obtain the donated organ, hospital charges, physician fees, follow-up care and immunosuppressants

According to the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), the first-year billed charges for a kidney transplant are more than $262,000. Following your transplant, you will need several drugs, called immunosuppresives, to sustain your transplanted kidney and/or pancreas.
