PLEASE KEEP SUPPORTING MOM!!
Your kindness and support means that Mom will be going to Germany! Your generosity has made certain that my Mom has a chance for a pain free future and a significantly improved quality of life for the long term. We cannot possibly express how grateful we are to so many people. We are in awe that so much money was raised by only 52 people in just one month on GoFundMe alone...

We are asking for and hoping for your continued support! In addition to the many donations received online and privately, my Mom and Richard were able to secure a substantial personal loan and to liquidate a small amount of savings that had accumulated. They were determined to make this surgery happen. However, they are still in need of raising the funds necessary to make the trip to Germany. We started a GoFundMe donation and have now raised 18K to help with travel related expenses.

Any amount donated above and beyond the achieved 18K goal will assist my Mom and Richard in other ways such as loss of income and reduction of the amount borrowed. Richard will be by Moms side for every step in this significant journey and we hope to ensure that he can do so without financial duress. All support counts and will go a long way to helping Mom and Richard focus on health, recovery, and a fresh start rather than focusing on financial wellness and a medical loan. Thank you so much to all of you!!

Original Story:
Keep Camille Footloose and Free

Four years ago, my mom, Camille, was in a car accident that changed her life. But it wasn’t the accident that did the damage – it only pointed out a much bigger problem. After the accident, she complained about neck pain, so we all went to the hospital for it to be checked out.

We found out that she has Spondylosis and Degenerative Disc Disease – which means that the discs in her neck will degenerate until she cannot walk. This was devastating to my mom, who is an outgoing, high-energy person, always going for walks with my brother and I, or going out with the dog, just to share the joy of being with others in nature. She taught us to ski and is always the life of the party.

You would think that this would dampen her spirits, but instead, as always, she has been embracing life and trying to find a fix for her spine. Normally a person with her condition would take medical leave, but until recently she worked to help us in college and support the family. Now the pain is too bad for her to continue.

We sought out medical help from across Canada, including the Spine Center in Vancouver, which determined treatment to be “too risky.” Camille is a fighter – not one to give up in the face of risk. If nothing is done, she will soon be in a wheelchair. After several years of research, and living in severe pain, she made contact with a group of doctors in Germany who are experts in her disease. They say that they can help her by providing a total discectomy, vertebral remodeling and artificial disc replacements of four discs. This procedure can have significant risks; however, it greatly minimizes an alternative life in a wheelchair and constant suffering.

Can you help? We are reaching out to raise funds for treatment in Germany - After securing loans, liquidating personal assests, and current donations from friends and family, we need to raise $18,000 more for the surgery. As the surgery is booked for April 17th we need the money now to secure her place. Every penny will help. Please help my mom get better!
