An Angel for An Angel

Hello,

On January 22nd, My Mom, Sharon suffered a severe stroke that left her paralyzed everywhere but her right arm/hand.

We placed her in a Skilled Rehabilitation Facility, however she was discharged after a month due to lack of  Insurance coverage (Medicare).  I have tried to switch her Insurance to Medi-Cal however she does not qualify.

She is still paralyzed and is in dire need of At-Home Nursing Care and Physical Therapy.

When we left the Rehab Facility, they supplied her with a small hospital bed and a standard wheelchair that is too small for her. We tried to work with this, unfortunately it has only exasperated the situation. We know she needs an Electric wheelchair.

It is safe to say she was discharge too soon, as she is not at all well-equipped for independent living.

We are both low income.

My proposal for this GoFundMe is to meet the financial need for my Mother to afford an at-home Nurse and and Electric Wheelchair to make it possible for her to get around out side of being confined to her hospital bed.

I can't express how grateful I would be for anything that would be contributed. Just to know that myself and my Mom are not alone in this uphill battle.

My biggest strength for fighting this battle is my Mom. She has always been a beacon of support for all of our family members. She has taught me so much about how to be a great friend because she has always been a great friend to everyone.

She has a big heart. And there is no doubt in my mind that she'd do the same for me and anyone else.

My Mom worked as a Nurse for a little over 30 years. Raised two kids as a Single Mother and is the Eldest of Seven siblings (Six younger brothers).

She is an animal lover and always told me that if she were a millionaire she would run an animal sanctuary for all the strays that she finds. Before the stroke my Mom would feed the stray Cats that walk around our apartment complex. And built boxes and containers for them to sleep in at night when it rained outside.

I think she deserves to know that she has support as well. After the poor treatment that she endured over the past month at the Rehabilitation Facility it would warm her heart, for sure.

She has set the standard for me when it come to Strength and Caring.
