Never give up

As some of you may have heard there was a recent accident in Lafayette, La that involved a bottle of dry shampoo that exploded in a vehicle. The incident happened near McCalisters, where the vehicle was found burning and the driver found alive but did sustain serious injuries. A link from KATC3 News is attached to the bottom of this bio. Some of you may not have realized just how serious the accident was (I know I didn’t) and exactly how difficult the recovery will be for this young girl. She happens to be a coworker/friend of mine so I felt compelled to make this for her.

Abbie, we are all cheering for your speedy recovery. You’ve got this girl! Thank you for taking time to read this. Any donations would be appreciated. Heres a little back story about Abbie Duncan:

If you know Abbie, then you know that this smile is exactly who she is.  An amazing redhead with an easy going personality, who is tough as nails (in 5th Grade she broke BOTH arms at the same time, and still carried her backpack to the office).

She's loyal, she's hard-working, and she's a "rock star".  She's an incredible daughter, girlfriend, sister, friend and co-worker.  And once you've met her -- you will never forget her.

But, today she needs us.  Abbie was recently in a horrible car fire where she received second degree burns on her face, hands, arms, legs, and ankles.   She's already  had two surgeries to repair the damage.   She's received skin grafts to both ankles and to her left hand.

Her car was destroyed as a can of dry shampoo in the back seat began to leak while she was driving.   Somehow the spray ignited while she was driving and turned into a blow torch.....ultimately setting her on fire.  She was able to jump out of the car.....and ran into a nearby store where (thank God) there was a nurse and others who helped her until the EMTs arrived.

The most important thing, is that she's alive and expected to make a full recovery.  But, she lost her car, her phone, some clothes, etc.  The medical bills are going to be substantial as she will be in recovery for the next several weeks and even months for certain treatment.  She's going to beat this.....

And, if you really want to know who Abbie is?  Well -- she's already studying -- as she's vowed to become a master at Camouflage Makeup - to help burn victims move on after a fire.   That's who Abbie is.....she's a fighter!
