My name is Laramie Guess and my wife's name is Santanna. We've been blessed with such a beautiful blended family as when we met Santanna had two boys and I had two girls. We are very thankful to have found each other and we love all four children equally regardless of biology. I'd like to tell you a little about my youngest stepson Ethan. He is a very rambunctious and high strung kid. When his mother and I met he was a preschooler and was struggling with behavioral issues. So much so that when he entered kindergarten we were almost forced to take him out of school but with the proper treatment his behavior issues were remedied and Ethan was able to stay in school!! Almost immediately Ethan began doing great academically!! We realized shortly that he learns very quickly. Matter of fact Ethan is a second grader now and even though he hasn't been taught multiplication at school he has picked up on it from merely listening to us teaching his older brother during homework time in the evening!! Though Ethan seems to be well at this time he has recently been diagnosed with pretty extreme hearing loss and has been prescribed hearing aids. He continues to do well in school but he tells us regularly that teachers at school become angry with him because he can't hear them at times. They've been told the situation but I don't think the teachers really understand how bad his hearing actually is. The hearing aids he needs are in excess of $3000 and though we have health insurance it won't pay anything until we pay another $2500 in deductible. Santanna and I work hard. She works for Walgreens and I am a small business owner. We share responsibilities of getting kids to and from school. Times have been tough for everyone this year. We were quarantined for two weeks due to covid and my business lost its biggest customer due to budget cuts from covid. My business is barely surviving at this time as it's a mobile pressure washing business and winter is not our strong season. We just simply can't afford to pay for Ethan's hearing aids at this time and it breaks our hearts because we see how hard it is for him to hear and how hard it is for him getting in trouble at school for something he simply can't control. We know without out a doubt that God has big plans for Ethan and he has a mind that could allow him to be anything he chooses in life. We know most people can't afford this sort of medical expense just as we aren't able to at this time but we just ask that if you are able to help at all then give what you are comfortable giving to keep this brilliant kid on track. If you're not able to give financially then please just pray and share this fundraiser everywhere you can. That helps more than you realize and we greatly appreciate it!!! Thank you so much for reading a little about Ethan today and God Bless!!!
