Our story

You never expect to here the words "its Cancer", but thats what we heard last year when our then 2 year old son was diagnosed with Wilms tumour.
April of 2018 Kaleb turned 2, he was also diagnosed with Cancer after becomming ill with a bloated belly one day. A simple case of trapped wind (or so we was imformed by a walk in centre doctor). 2 days later mummy instincts knew better, i took Kaleb to our own gp and convinced him that there was something seriously wrong. Luckily, he listened. Our doctor sent us to the emergency department, there a scan revealed a massive tumour on his kidney. The next day we are being blue lighted to LGI. To follow came MRIs and CT to confirm diagnosis of Wilms tumour. Within a week we lost out healthy happy little boy to a cancer patient. Surgeries, Chemo treatments, repeated scans, worring about fevers, our lives were now a rollercoaster of medication and hospital stays. I lost count of how many times we were stuck in isolation. The thing is, when your a cancer kid in isolation life sucks even more. In Leeds they are a specialist childrens oncology unit. There prepared. They have people who knock door to door, make cooked breakfasts, offer haircuts for parents stuck in rooms, massages. They come in and give parents chance to have time out for themselves. They have activities they bring into the rooms for the children.
When your in Hull royal with a fever. You are on your own. Stuck up in  the penthouse as i grew to refer to ward 130. Its not the nurses fault, they are busy looking after our babes (and doing an amazing job might i add). Which leads me to...

My Target

We spent untold days in isolation in hospital with Kaleb. Life in isolation is a new found torture to children and there parents.
LGI have it right, they have resourses and groups that can give some restbite or even just time to make a cup of tea. Which gets to what im asking for.
When you are seriously ill in Hull you get sent to isolation in Hull Royals tower block (130W), they have no resourses, no respite. I would like to change that. My idea is simple for now. Tote bags, full of activitys/things to make the children and parents stay easier. I would like to include,
Cosy socks
Colouring books
Sketch bags
Pencils
Paints
Playdough
Story books
Sticker books
Travel games
Puzzles
Travel mugs for parents
Tolierties
Tea and coffee sachets
A note book and pen

I am asking for either donations or cash donations so i can buy things to fill the tote bags with. Any help is appreciated.

Our message

Kaleb has gone from stregth to stregth he is Cancer free, we have a long way to go before hes out of risk of relapse but weve leant to appreciate the "now", and not worry about what may come.
But, theres still a lot of people stuck up in the "pent house", gazing out of the window across the humber.
Lets help them, even if its just a small act of kindness
