Help Kaylie Get Better

Kaylie's Story
Our dear cousin Kaylie, 26 years old, has been suffering bitterly from Lyme Disease for 10 years.  Her symptoms began in 2005 during her junior year at Ralston Valley High School in Arvada, CO, when the right side of her face became mysteriously paralyzed for 6 weeks.  During the next 7 years, while her peers completed high school and college, she experienced an onslaught of terrible symptoms including migraines, partial paralysis, fatigue, debilitating body pains, muscle spasms, dyslexia, and loss of memory, without knowing the cause.  She received various misdiagnoses including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and suggestions that she may have Lupus, MS, or that the entire experience was “in her head” and that psychological treatment alone was needed.

In 2008, she experienced a severe migraine lasting 12 weeks, requiring full-time bedrest and resulting in a neck procedure intended to cauterize the nerves. It didn’t remove the pain so a second procedure was performed, after which Kaylie’s condition worsened and resulted in a hospital stay. She missed a whole year of school; all the while, her doctors didn't know the cause of her migraines and other symptoms.

Despite the difficulties of facing day-to-day life with a growing list of symptoms, Kaylie exericised steady resilience in her studies and completed a Bachelors Degree with Honors in Nursing at Regis University with a 4.0 GPA. In 2010 she was selected to a highly competitive Internship Program at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and unfortunately had to decline the opportunity due to her myriad of symptoms.  She continued to be of service to others in her work as a Neonatal Intensive Care nurse up until December 2012, at which point she went on disability leave.  Kaylie's worsening condition necessitated that she and her fiancé  August move in with her parents (Rick and Heather Kempsell), where they currently live. August has been steadfast in his care and support of Kaylie since they met in 2009.  Kaylie is always accompanied at home by August or one of her parents.

Lyme Disease
After years of searching for the cause of her symptoms, Kaylie was officially diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease in 2012. She had a PICC line placed (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter, used for long-term IV treatment) and began an IV antibiotic treatment plan to attack the Lyme bacteria in her body.  The treatment, combined with the massive cocktail of drugs she’s been taking for years, has taken a toll on her organs and immune system. Her Lyme specialist now believes that the antibiotic therapy has reached its full potential.  She continues to experience numerous debilitating symptoms and needs to rebuild her immune system and organs in order to feel better. Her body has been a battle-ground of conflicting chemicals for years, and desperately requires an influx of healthy cells, nutrition, and overall vitality.

Infusio Treatment
Through the recommendation of her Lyme specialist in California, and testimonials from a fellow Lyme patient, Kaylie has found a treatment that she and her family believe can help her get better.  The treatment will take place at the Infusio Center for New Medicine in Frankfurt, Germany. Instead of being treated in an often-impersonal and stress-filled hospital environment, Kaylie will be treated in a healing, spa-like environment for 2 straight weeks, receiving the Infusio 5-Step Integrative Approach to Healing.  The treatment consists of Thymus Therapy to rebuild/boost her immune system, Immune Modulation to rebalance the ratio of cells in her immune system, IV’s with fresh supplies of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, Detoxification, and additional treatments specific to Kaylie’s needs.

Perhaps the most powerful aspect will be the Stem Cell Therapy (not available in the U.S.), which will involve drawing Kaylie’s blood, harvesting stem cells, replicating the highest quality cells, and reintroducing them to Kaylie’s body 8 days later.  These cells will revitalize her immune system and become the building blocks for healthy organs.  Infusio has an excellent track record of treating Lyme Disease, and many testimonials. Kaylie has been corresponding directly with another Lyme patient who has experienced very positive results through the Infusio treatment and is on her way to resuming a normal life again.

Your Help is Requested
Kaylie has been a source of true inspiration for all who have been near her during this lengthy period of pain and difficulty.  She has maintained a steadfast positive attitude, and has given caring, compassion, and kindness to others.  She has been reluctant to accept any financial help from others. Many friends and family have wanted to contribute in some way, but due to the unknowns surrounding the nature of Lyme Disease and the lack of a clear treatment programs in the United States, it has been difficult to identify a definite way to help her.

This campaign provides the opportunity to help Kaylie accomplish a definite goal: Fly to Germany and receive the Infusio treatment from Dr. Phil Battiade as soon as possible.  The cost of her treatment is estimated at $25K. With additional costs for airfare, accommodations, food, and after-care, our goal is to raise $35K+ for Kaylie to cover all expenses.  The CDC in the United States doesn’t even recognize Chronic Lyme Disease as a legitimate disease eligible for insurance coverage. Therefore, Kaylie and her family have been paying out-of-pocket for a decade of doctor visits, plane tickets to visit specialists, antibiotics, pain killers, IV’s, oxygen tanks, physical therapy, and so on.

Kaylie believes the Infusio treatment will help her find relief from the debilitating symptoms that she has experienced for so many years, and aid on the path toward full recovery.  Contributions to this campaign will not only help Kaylie, but, by empowering her to get better it will enable her to help others through her work as a nurse, and as an inspirational conqueror of Lyme Disease who will share her path to health with others.

Summary
Please donate what you feel in your heart to this GoFundMe campaign and help us send Kaylie to Germany for treatment as soon as possible!  Comment on this page, share it on Facebook and Twitter, and email it to your friends and family.  Every contribution, no matter how large or small, is meaningful and deeply appreciated.
